Turning a Negative Into a Positive For Beginners

change

How do you deal with negative challenges?

Every single person in this world will experience negative challenges, whether it be rain on your parade or the loss of an opportunity, BUT it is how you deal with these situations that will change the course of your life.

Allow Yourself To Feel Your Feelings

You cannot resolve something that you haven’t acknowledged. This means when something gets you down give yourself a set time to feel your emotions fully. Ignoring them will only lead to festering and even worse negatives because you are holding on to the bad.

NOW, just because you should feel them does not mean you can wallow forever. The key phrase from above is SET A TIMEFRAME. This allows you to recognize after this point I need to push through this because whatever has set me back will not hold me there.

Life Happens For You, Not Against You

No matter how difficult things seem to be in the moment, life happens for you, not against you. All you need to do is take control. This means taking whatever you are dealing with and seeing it with a silver lining.

For example, maybe you didn’t get the job you interviewed for. This can be a huge blow to your confidence but after you give yourself a moment to acknowledge your feelings maybe you realize that this company’s culture wouldn’t have been a welcoming and positive place to grow.

As you move forward you can take this retrospection into your future planning. LOOK you are already moving forward again.

Conclusion: Remember and Focus on the Positive

In these negative or even dark moments, if the silver lining is out of sight, focus on positive moments you have experienced. For David he goes back and remembers the day he met his wife, the moment when his kids were born, and the time he founded the company that has built a beautiful family for his team. These are the type of golden memories that can keep your mind and soul in a positive healing state when going through a rough time.

When you start changing your state of mind -to positive- everything starts getting better and you start seeing that silver lining.
