What Are Some Key Attitudes to Successfully Grow a Business?

Trevor Bills, Pharmacist and Entrepreneur

Listen to this episode with Trevor Bills, a pharmacist and entrepreneur. Learn the right attitude, mindset, and purpose of a successful business.

Here are the top three lessons from Trevor Bills:

Lesson #1: Be Ready To Say Yes

To take advantage of the opportunity, you need to be an open-minded learner, and that also means saying yes when there is an opportunity for growth. Trevor had this experience when he went from being a pharmacist to becoming an entrepreneur, and it taught him a lot about businesses and, more importantly, about himself. Open-mindedness will not only teach you your strengths and weaknesses, it will also develop your hunger for learning, and so you will explore more with passion and with purpose.

In the business world, if you are not open you may lose out on important opportunities, and you don’t want to be in that position. Becoming open is not easy, it takes patience and risk-taking. There may be teaching moments along the way due to unexpected outcomes, but remember, it’s all part of the process.

Lesson #2:  Achieving Success Through Others

Building your own business is not easy, and some may fall into the trap of creating a job and not a business, especially when you micro-manage. The secret to this is to find people that work better than you, or work differently than you. David and Trevor remembered learning this when they started, and how vital it was to their growth to understand that they can’t be doing everything at once.

There is no greater scenario in business than growing with the people you work with and the people you have learned to love. It’s always a win-win situation when you hire people better than what you do, because you not only help them enhance their skill, you also learn from them.

Lesson #3: The Greed vs Growth Mindset

It is crucial to know your “why” when you start your business, because it will reflect on your future outcome. When you get blinded by money and you make it as your “why”, then you become greedy and too aggressive in your approach. The best way to start your business is to make money through value. But when you become selfless and give value to others, pride goes away and this is when you start actually growing, because you’re making the world a better place.

At the end of the day, there is always something to be thankful for. Gratitude opens your heart and opens your eyes to make better decisions in life and in your career.
