Michael Flory, Victorious Survivor and Entrepreneur

Michael’s life is unexpected and impactful. His parents were killed by his grandfather, and other members of his family, including him, suffered gunshot injuries. This is a traumatic experience and all the events that followed were not easy. He’s had a long way to get to where he is today but now he’s extremely happy and has a big family and business of his own.

Here are three of many important lessons you’ll learn from Michael’s incredible story:

1) Mental Health

After the traumatic experience he had, Michael’s life changed a lot. He had a hard time dealing with depression and even had to go to a mental hospital for a couple of weeks. At the age of 15, he was diagnosed with mental health issues that were caused by chemical imbalances that were generational. He was told that medications could help but he tried multiple times to get better and it never worked. Little by little, he started losing hope.

The pain he experienced was so immense that he felt that suicide was the only option. He was scared, but the thoughts were there every single day. At the age of 20, when he had decided to take his life, the universe had a different plan. He blacked out and ended up in his brother’s house where he experienced supernatural love by prayer. This was something not even words could describe, and it changed his life completely. The problems were still there, but after feeling that level of love and safety again, he was able to believe there was hope for his life.

2) There is Still a Purpose

Throughout the episodes of mental health decline, there was always something in the back of Michael’s mind that told him “there is more to life than this”. He knew that he was a survivor and that he had to keep fighting because there must be something else planned for his life if he had made it this far.

The night everything changed, and his suicidal thoughts went away, was the moment he realized that he had to share his story with other people. He shared the message that there is always hope and that your life is not over if you haven’t fulfilled your purpose.

3) It Gets Better

Does it get better? Always. It might take time, but you have to understand that every situation has a purpose and a lesson to be learned. It was a whole process for Michael to comprehend this, but once he did, it became easier for him to get through other difficult situations. Life is not easy— but it is beautiful. Today, Michael lives a happy life with a big family that loves and supports him. If you are going through a difficult time, know that it will get better and you’ll be a better person because of it. The love that Michael felt, the love that saved him, is available to you, even when it feels like it isn’t.
