Darcy MacNeill: What Does It take to be an Entrepreneur?

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be an entrepreneur? Darcy knows what it takes and how hard it can get. In this episode, he shares some of the knowledge he’s gained over the years. Don’t miss it!

Darcy MacNeill, Passionate Entrepreneur

Darcy believes that you are either winning or learning. Like many entrepreneurs, he’s had multiple challenges during his life that have taught him the amazing knowledge he shared in this podcast episode. Tune in to learn more about how he unintentionally started the successful company he has today and all of the hard work, mental and physical, he had to put in.

Here are three amazing lessons you’ll get from this podcast episode:

1) College is Not the Only Option

David and Darcy had a truthful conversation about the education system nowadays; they both think that there are so many resources outside of school that make going to college an option and not a must when it comes to having a successful career. They pointed out that the best reason to go is to have social connections and learn social skills.

This is not to say that going to college is a waste of time, because at the end of the day, it is a useful tool. Darcy has noticed that a lot of companies are now giving more opportunities to people without a college degree but with great skills. So, if you don’t feel passionate about going to college, see what else you can do to keep on learning because if you are not learning, you are not growing.

2) Starting a Business

Everything requires hard work and dedication; you need to love what you do to be successful. At the beginning of your business, you are going to have to give most of your time and effort to growing your business, but you have to be careful to set aside the weekends or just time to release the stress and relax- if not, you could become addicted to hard work. It sounds crazy, how could someone become addicted to hard work? But it’s pretty common! It even happened to David and he almost lost all the other great things he had in his life.

To ensure this doesn’t happen to you, you need to acknowledge that you cannot do everything by yourself and you need a team of great people that will help you grow the business. As an entrepreneur, you don’t need to be the best at everything, that is what your team is there for. Hire people that are more skilled than you. This way, you can start creating that work-life balance and not focus your entire life around your business.

3) Competition is for Losers

Collaboration is the best way to grow your business. A lot of people are scared of collaborating with what is supposed to be their “competition,” but the thing is that every business has its own way of working and they are never identical. When you collaborate and learn from each other, you are both growing! We live in an abundant world, so don’t be scared of asking your “competitor” for advice. If they are willing to help, it means they understand the importance of collaboration and not competition.
