In this episode, you’ll get to hear the amazing success story of Dr. Fall and learn how problems can carve out a new path in your life.

Dr. Leslie Fall, Paediatrician and Entrepreneur

Leslie is a paediatrician with a focus on innovation and technology. Entrepreneurs see problems and find a way to solve them, and that is exactly what Leslie did when she discovered that medical education could be made easier by using technology.

Here are three important lessons from Leslie’s success story:

1) Influences in Your Life

Some people go to college without a clue about what they want to study, but that was not something Leslie experienced. She knew from a young age that she wanted to be a doctor, and specifically, a paediatrician. Often, you will see young professionals pursuing the same career as their parents, role models, or trusted friends. Leslie had impactful people that drove her to be a doctor.

Leslie saw her grandmother go through cancer. She encouraged her to think of becoming a doctor and she became the first in her family. Leslie took in those influences and, with her love of science and children, decided to become a paediatrician. There is always going to be an influence in your life and it’s up to you to take it!

2) Find Opportunities

A lot of people go to university thinking they can only choose one career path for the rest of their life. While it’s important to choose something you’re passionate about, sometimes the right opportunity can take you to a totally different industry if you’re open to new possibilities.

This happened to Leslie. She studied to become a paediatrician, and while anyone would think she’d practice this career for the rest of her life, she found a new opportunity. She saw some problems in the consistency of medical education for students that were sent to learn in different parts of North America. She created a solution that made her move to the technological industry side. This was something she wasn’t expecting, but she was open to the opportunities and was able to combine her interests into a project that positively impacted the medical industry.

3) Be Passionate

Life is not easy. You have to be really passionate about something to survive the difficulties life brings. You will have to make sacrifices along the way, but with the right people supporting you, it will be worth the fulfillment of reaching your goals.

Leslie had to be passionate while creating a non-profit organization. She understood that she couldn’t do it alone and her supportive partner helped her accomplish her dream. You don’t have to choose between having a family or having a successful career… you can do it all!

You can have a lot, but it takes a lot.
