The Empowered Freedom That Entrepreneurship Provides-The Best Business Podcast: Break Free

Charles Byrd, Joint Venture Expert & CEO of PureJV

Not everyone realizes the freedom that entrepreneurship can provide. In this episode, we will talk about the mindset and mentality of successful people, the freedom we all wanted, the right attitude for success, and how making big decisions can benefit us. Tune in to this episode with the CEO of PureJV and a Joint Venture Expert, Charles Byrd.

‘Go to School & Get a Job’ Mentality

The simple message of this mentality is that schools don’t teach people to be entrepreneurs, they teach people to be employees. David and Charles similarly grew up in an environment that teaches young people to build their skillset and get a job. Yet the freedom they were looking for wasn’t being taught, such as entrepreneurship. This experience is very common, and many entrepreneurs go through the experience of going to school and aiming for a job. However, this kind of lifestyle is not desired by everyone, like David and Charles who were born to be their own bosses. Like other entrepreneurs, they had to break free from that mentality and open a new chapter in their life– the entrepreneur’s life. Working on a corporate job is not a bad thing at all, but there are people that don’t fit into that lifestyle. Most of them are born to be entrepreneurs and experience limitless growth and freedom in what they do, in which they can chart their own path. But it is important to understand that entrepreneurship is not for everyone.

Entrepreneurial Freedom

Freedom in entrepreneurship is not only about autonomy or being your own boss. It's the freedom to think beyond the boundaries of your work, the freedom to bring and execute new ideas, the freedom to defy the standard protocols and bring innovation in those to make it much more efficient.

For David, being an entrepreneur is the hardest thing he did in his life, yet rewarding. Its rewards are Freedom of Time, Freedom of Money, Freedom of Relationships, and Freedom of Purpose. During David’s employment days, he realized how little security there was in working with someone else. He was working in a Multi-Million dollar company, and one time they laid off 500 people at once.

On the other hand, entrepreneurs have the freedom to fail and learn and be better. They can change their strategy and hire people to get the work going and achieve goals. There is a lot of freedom when you are your own boss because you choose your path. Many say entrepreneurship is risky, but more entrepreneurs would agree that it’s very rewarding.

The Right Attitude For Success

When you have the privilege to start your own business, things can go wrong and when it happens it’s important to have the right attitude or mindset when it happens. One of the things that you can do is to accept whatever is happening and focus on how to address the issue. Sometimes in business, there are things that won’t work and fail, but it’s important to have the will to stand up and keep going, maybe change things a little bit and try again. What’s important is you didn’t quit. When you tried your best and you feel weak, go back to your purpose and ask ‘why you are doing this business?’

Making Big Decisions Will Move You Forward

When you are too comfortable with what you are doing, you are not making big decisions. If you want to keep moving forward, you have to get out of your comfort zone. The life of an entrepreneur is creating new doors of opportunity. Charles suggests that we people should not be afraid of discomfort in our day-to-day work, because sometimes it helps us push to make big decisions in life, like leaving a job to build your own business.

When you make big decisions, it’s okay if you don’t have all the answers and information you need to move forward. It’s part of the gift of freedom that entrepreneurship offers. This is what people are talking about when they say ‘take risks’. But living in that uncertainty will bring bigger and more beautiful opportunities.
