Serving with Purpose: Michele Veillon's Journey of Trusting God's Plan to Impact Lives
Michele (Meche) Veillon
In a world that often values success by wealth and status, there is something deeply inspiring about those who define success by service. Michele Veillon, CEO and co-owner of Senior Helpers in Louisiana, is one such person. Her story is a testament to the faithfulness of God, the importance of trusting His plan, and the beauty of serving others in their most vulnerable moments.
A Heart for Service
Michele’s journey didn’t start with a desire to run a business. As a young woman, she dreamed of being a photojournalist, traveling to distant lands, and telling stories that mattered. But God had a different plan. He led her down a path that would eventually place her in the heart of senior care, providing dignity and comfort to those in their final years.
Her work at Senior Helpers focuses on enabling the elderly to remain in their homes as long as possible. Whether through companionship, assistance with daily activities, or more advanced caregiving, Michele and her team are committed to meeting people where they are, both physically and emotionally. This work is not just a business—it is a calling.
Trusting God’s Plan
Like many who follow Christ, Michele’s journey was not always clear. She stepped away from the workforce for ten years to raise her five children, a decision she cherishes despite societal pressure to constantly achieve. When she reentered the workforce, she took a temporary position as a social worker, which turned into a decades-long career in elder care. Ultimately, she was offered the opportunity to lead and co-own Senior Helpers, a position she never sought but one that was clearly orchestrated by God.
Her story reminds us that God often works behind the scenes, preparing us for assignments we never expected. Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." Michele’s life is a perfect example of this truth.
The Beauty of Caring for Others
At the core of Michele’s work is the belief that every person, no matter their age or condition, deserves respect, love, and dignity. Jesus Himself modeled this type of service. In Matthew 25:40, He says, "Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me."
Michele’s dedication to seniors, particularly veterans, speaks to this call. Many of the elderly she serves have lived full lives, but as they age, they find themselves alone and in need of care. Her team not only meets their physical needs but also ministers to their emotional and spiritual well-being.
Faith Over Fear
Stepping into a leadership role as a CEO was no easy task. Michele candidly shares that she struggled with the financial aspects of the business, feeling out of her depth. However, she didn’t let fear stop her. Instead, she sought wisdom, asked questions, and leaned on God. This humility and reliance on the Lord reflect Proverbs 15:22, "Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed."
David Mansilla, host of the Break Free Podcast, highlighted an essential truth—successful leadership comes from surrounding yourself with people who are wiser than you in certain areas. Michele embraced this and built a team that supports and strengthens her mission.
A Legacy of Love and Faith
As she looks to the future, Michele is excited about continuing to grow Senior Helpers, always striving to do better. She wants to ensure that every senior they serve experiences love, respect, and dignity. She also encourages younger generations to trust God’s timing and not fear stepping into roles they never expected.
Her message to her younger self? “Your voice matters. Trust God’s plan and use your gifts with confidence.” A powerful reminder that we are all called to something greater than ourselves.
Final Thoughts: Serving with Purpose
Michele’s journey is a beautiful reflection of faith in action. She didn’t set out to be a CEO, but by trusting in God, embracing each opportunity, and serving others selflessly, she found her true calling. Her story challenges us to ask ourselves—how can we serve others with the gifts God has given us?
Whether through caregiving, leadership, or simply being present for those in need, our lives have a higher purpose when we follow Christ’s example of love and service. As Michele beautifully sums it up: "When you know better, you do better." May we all strive to know God more deeply and, in turn, serve His people with greater love and compassion.
