What Does “Wasted Potential” Mean, and How Can You Prevent It?

Justin Breen, Visionary Entrepreneur, Global Connector, Strategic Coach Member

Do you believe in the phrase ‘simplicity is beauty’? Then this episode is for you. Listen to Justin Breen, a Visionary Entrepreneur and a Global Connector. Justin’s purpose is to become a connector for every visionary and investment-mindset entrepreneur to share their stories around the world.

Here are the top 3 Lessons from this episode:

Lesson #1: Born Gifts are Not Enough

People get jealous with people who have inborn talents or gifts, but it’s not actually enough to win in what you do. Genetics and natural talents have a play in the equation, but it will not have an equal weight to practice and learning. David shared that there are talented people who waste their talent. Justin shared two reasons why people find themselves leading miserable lives. One reason is because some people spend eight to ten hours a day doing something they hate doing. The second reason is that too many people find something they love doing, but do nothing about it. Did something come to mind for you?

Lesson #2: Burning the Boats in the Island

David taught that the best way to conquer the Island is to burn the boats, because that is the motivation required to build anything in life– even in building a family. It’s takes giving your one-hundred percent dedication and not giving space to back down or retreat. You must be all-in to learn and to succeed.

Lesson #3: Good Patterns Create Good Habits

When it comes to relationships, it can be very hard to find balance between what is mutually beneficial for you and others, especially with your life partner. For some, saying thank you may not be as important, but for others, it’s their top priority. The key is to learn about the other person and act on it. For Justin, personality doesn’t matter in order for him to know a person, but learning how that person’s brain works does. Observing other people that are better at a certain behavior and learning their patterns helps him know what to do. Justin affirms that actually doing something with that information and acting on it will help you improve relationships with others, be it romantic, familial, or business.

Becoming a successful entrepreneur is easier said than done. There must be a struggle, a refinement that will make you a better version of yourself, and that is how you become successful. Justin wrote an article at Inc.com about overcoming those struggles called: 4 Ways to Create Support Systems to Help With Hardships.

Learn to conquer negative experiences entrepreneurs often face:

  • Overcoming bankruptcy or potential bankruptcy

  • Overcoming depression

  • Overcoming the highest level of anxiety

  • Overcoming likely and possible traumatic experiences as a child or a young adult

Put your family first.
