Leadership: Focusing On Your Businesses Development

Jonathan Nieto, Entrepreneur and CEO of Reel Marketing Strategies

There is no better way to build your foundation than at a young age. Jonathan Nieto is a multi business owner. His journey started as early as first grade, when he found the passion of becoming an entrepreneur. Listen to the episode to learn the mindset of a person that is born to be a businessman.

Here are three lessons to apply from Jonathan’s experience:

Lesson #1: Business Owner vs Business Operator

How do you know the difference between a business owner and a business operator? According to Jonathan, “If you can’t walk away from your business and make money, you don’t have a business– you have a job…Creating something that doesn’t necessarily require you to do everything in it for you to make money is the goal.” When we define a business operator, we see that it involves the day-to-day running of a company. It’s very hands-on and, when the operator is not on-site, the business usually comes to a screeching halt. For a business owner, the focus is on making decisions for and profiting from the business, and to be in a developmental role.

Lesson #2: Applied Knowledge Is Power

From traditional schooling to learning on his own terms, Jonathan learned a great deal about running his own business. He left college, but for him, learning didn’t stop. In this technological era, learning is now at the tip of our fingers. Resources are now everywhere, whether you go to school or learn skills on the internet, you can still learn. “Let your knowledge lead to action and you’ll have everything you want.” It’s not just about learning; it’s taking the risk and taking necessary actions to apply what you learn.

Lesson #3: Faith Over Fear

There is no immunity from failure. It’s part of the process of learning. In order for us to learn better, our decisions should be faith-driven and not fear-driven. David and Jonathan shared their experiences on what a difference it makes when we are driven with faith rather than fear, which is too often the default for some.

Immersing Yourself In Your Passions. The more you spend time on the things you love doing, the more you become confident in what you do and inspire others to do the same.
