There is NO SUCH THING as Overnight Business Success

Herb King

Are you tired of feeling judged because of the decisions you are making? People are constantly criticizing others because they wish they were brave enough to take risks. Herb King is an entrepreneur that discovered this in the corporate world.

Herb King, Coach and Successful Entrepreneur

Herb is a retired entrepreneur that loves to invest and mentors others. His life story and business are incredible inspirations for current and aspiring entrepreneurs. He left a corporate job to become a business owner. It took a long time to make it a success, but he says it was all worth it!

Here are three lessons from Herb’s life lessons:

1) Tip of The Iceberg

Many believe that rich people became rich really fast or that their success was easy. This is because they only see the tip of the iceberg. Only the people close to you and mainly yourself understand all the time, effort and stress it takes to make a successful business.

The sacrifices are worth it, because as long as you are constantly learning and improving your methods, sooner or later, your company will thrive. Herb King built his company for almost 30 years and it became a success. It took a lot of time and sacrifice but now he knows everything was worth it. He wasn’t lucky, he was a hard worker.

2) Things Happen for a Reason

In 2008, there were a lot of financial problems in the world, but entrepreneurs know that difficult times can be opportunities to make your business better— if you know enough to do so. Herb decided to launch a new line of products in his company; the company’s lawyers and the bankers did not agree with him because they were seeing the reality of the economy. This was the beginning of a great lesson for Herb. He thought he knew more than his advisors and was really frustrated when they didn’t agree with him.

Looking back on it, he’s thankful the bankers and lawyers were there because he now understands that it wasn’t the right thing to do. The market wasn’t ready for that particular product. It was a big lesson for his ego, he finally started to understand that he needed people with expert knowledge to advise him and help him make good decisions— at the right time.

3) Who Are You?

Ego plays an important role in our life. When you let your ego take control and start making decisions based on your emotions, it is most likely going to be a wrong decision. In this episode, Herb explains how he learned to manage his ego and value his self-worth. He says he had an excessive ego because he didn’t know who he was and needed validation to make himself feel better. After this realization, he decided to take control over his emotions and listen to the positive voice in his head and shut the negative one out.

The universe tells us what we need to do and all the answers we need in life are there... if we are willing to be still and listen.
