This episode may just remind you what you’re fighting for: freedom and fulfillment.
See the three keys we can learn from Walt Brown’s experiences:
1) You Get What You Put In
There is no shortcut or substitute for reaching success. While there are plenty of ways to get ahead faster (for example, following the advice of your mentors), the only sure-fire way to build something for yourself is to put in the blood, sweat and tears. So, make sure that you’re passionate about whatever it is you’re building. That passion is what will drive you forward when you hit some inevitable obstacles.
2) Teamwork is the Basis for Massive Success
Walt recognized early on that each person has an individual set of skills. While some people were good for certain roles, he had a knack for knowing where to set them up so that they’d be successful, fulfilled and confident in their contributions.
As an entrepreneur, it also takes a certain amount of humility to recognize who you need to hire in order to fill in the holes in your own set of skills. That’s the beautiful part of business; it’s the power of a group that makes the machine run smoothly.
3) It Takes Time to Build a Brand
Something that is all too easy to forget is that building a brand and establishing a business takes time— a lot more than what one might actually expect. Walt Brown’s estimation is that it takes three years to really see the vision come to life. Before then, it’s a lot of messy guesswork with marketing and finalizing ideas. But don’t let that deter you! These initial years are setting you up for a lifetime of successes.
The experience you gain from taking a leap into entrepreneurship is worth the struggle and hardship. Finding success from your own vision also makes it taste that much sweeter.
