Resisting Change is What Kills Businesses: How Can You Keep Up?

Liam Martin, Remote Work Advocate, Entrepreneur

Are you managing people remotely? How are you creating a good culture as a remote team? Learn that in this episode with Liam Martin, Remote Work Advocate, Founder of Time Doctor, Running Remote, and Staff.com.

Here are the highlights from this episode:

Lesson #1: Remote Work Is the Future

The world is changing, especially for businesses. Before, working at home wasn’t an option, but now people can work in the comfort of their homes while providing top-notch services. When the economy went down during Covid, many workers shifted or were forced from working at the office to working at home. But only businesses that already did remote work didn’t feel the change, because they believed that working remotely was more convenient to their employees. Companies are finding that remote work is growing their businesses dramatically. For many people, working remotely is freedom, and it is doable and scalable.

Lesson #2: The Future of Leadership

It is fundamental in a business to have a leader to manage and guide people in the right direction. Liam believes that the future of leadership is not going to be more on management but more on leadership, meaning it has little to do with “what are your numbers?” but “what are your blockers inside your work, and how can I open those up for you?” Most of the issues are the non-blocker ones; these are the ones outside your work, your personal life challenges. When a leader knows how to handle this, the employees feel valued and they perform better.

Lesson #3: Finding Out If You Are Entrepreneurial

Not everyone is aware if they are an entrepreneurial person or not. But there are common traits and personalities that show you are an entrepreneurial person. One example would be; you can’t seem to work for other people effectively. Maybe because you cannot work with a boss, and you want to be your own boss. For Liam and David, they are always breaking the norm and have their own way of effectively doing things, and feeling happy doing it. These are signs that you have to work for yourself and break free, by becoming your own boss.
